Introduction To Computer Hardware
What is Computer Hardware?
Computer hardware refers to the physical/tangible components or parts of the computer.
OR
Hardware refers to any physical/tangible part of the computer that you can touch, feel, see and pickup.
Note: Computer hardware can be physically seen and touched
Classification of computer hardware
Computer Hardware is classified or categorised as follows;
1) Input devices
2) Output devices
3) Processing devices
4) Storage devices
5) Communication devices
Input devices
These are computer components that are used to enter/insert data, instructions and commands into the computer. E.g Keyboard, Mouse, Joystick etc.
Processing Devices
These are hardware devices that transform,convert, manipulate, and interpret data, instructions and commands entered into the computer to meaningful information/output.
Storage devices
These are devices that hold /store data and information temporarily or permanently in the computer.
Output devices
These are devices that are used to convey/display information to the user.
Communication devices
These are devices that are used in transmission of data and information from one computer to another.
What are computer peripheral devices?
These are external devices that are connected to the computer to add functionality and if removed the computer continues to work.
