This can be daily, monthly, or yearly for a fee. They are called public access networks because they offer services to the general public.

  • Computer processing speed (processor power).
  • Type of connection i.e. dial-up connection or direct connection. Direct connection is faster compared to dial up.
  • The speed of Internet service provider server (ISP’s server.)
  • Bandwidth of the type of connection.
  • Bandwidth refers to the maximum amount of data that can be sent across the network cable per second (High bandwidth means high communication speed of the Internet) and vice versa.
  • Traffic congestion on the Internet at any given time may also affect the communication speed on internet.
  • Size and number of graphics on the website.
  • Size of data being transmitted over the internet.
  • Viruses: if the computer used has viruses this will automatically affect the communication speed over the Internet.

    5. Searching for information on topics of interest, academic research, and finding answers to questions using search engines like Google.

    7. Accessing online courses, tutorials, and educational resources from platforms like Udemy and Exinet Academy.

3.Excessive use can lead to addiction, negatively impacting daily life, productivity, and mental health. Eg. Social media can contribute to anxiety, depression, and low self-esteem, especially among young people.

4.The internet can rapidly spread misinformation and fake news, leading to misinformed public opinions and decisions.
5. Overreliance on online communication can reduce physical social interactions, leading to feelings of loneliness and isolation.
