Introduction

Spreadsheets are one of the most popular tools available with personal computers. It is capable of containing a wide range of data and formulas. Spreadsheet program commonly hold numeric data, but it can be other things like text, dates, times and logical values like True and False. Apart from that You can also draw charts / graphs in a spreadsheet like bar graph, line graph and pie chart.

What is Spreadsheet ?

  • A spread sheet is an iapplication programme   for organization  on analysis of data in tabular form.
  • A spreadsheet can also refer to  a computer program that can capture, display and manipulate data arranged in rows and columns.
  • It’s also refered to as an electronic work sheet divided into rows and columns that can be used to analyze and present business data.

  • Managing budgets   e.g.  projects  expenses
  • Representing  data   in graphical or chart  form
  • Applying  arithmetic  mathematical  or  statistical  functions  to  numerical  data sets
  • Creating  simple  lists  and  tables  of  alphabetic  and  numerical  data
  • Maintaining lists of short items you wish to sort e.g.  categories
  • Studying   quantifiable information such as voting patterns, statistics etc.
  • Creating  and manipulating  simple(flat-file)databases

How to start Microsoft Excel Programm [Windows Computer]

To open Excel from Windows you have to follow the following procedures.

  1. Click the Windows icon (Start button) on left bottom corner of Windows taskbar or press the Windows key on your keyboard
  2. Scroll down to letter “E” to find Excel shortcut in start menu.

4. After your excel program will be opened.

Conclusion

An “extension” in Excel is a file format used while saving Excel workbooks or spreadsheets. For example, the filename “Income.xlsx” has a “.xlsx” extension associated with the document file.
